Safety & Important Disclaimers
Opening Statement
At My Riding Coach, we care deeply about the safety and well-being of every rider and horse who uses this app. Before you ride, and before you use any advice or guidance from this app, please read the following carefully.
Horseback Riding Is Inherently Dangerous
Horseback riding is an inherently dangerous activity.
Unlike most sports, horses are living animals with their own instincts, moods, and unpredictable behaviors. Even experienced riders on well-trained horses can and do get hurt. Risks include — but are not limited to — falls, kicks, bites, being thrown, crushed, or trampled, and contact with equipment, fencing, or the ground.
These risks exist regardless of your skill level, your horse's temperament, the environment you ride in, or any advice or information you receive — including from this app.
By using My Riding Coach, you acknowledge that you understand and voluntarily accept these inherent risks.
Always Wear Protective Equipment
We strongly urge every rider — beginner or experienced, young or adult — to always wear proper protective gear:
- 🪖 A properly fitted, certified riding helmet — every single ride, no exceptions. Look for helmets certified to ASTM F1163, SEI, or equivalent safety standards.
- 🦺 A protective safety vest (body protector) — especially when jumping, riding young or unpredictable horses, or trail riding in technical terrain.
- Appropriate footwear — always wear boots with a heel to prevent your foot from sliding through the stirrup.
No coaching advice — from a human instructor or an AI — replaces the protection of proper safety equipment.
This App Is Not a Substitute for Professional Instruction
My Riding Coach is an educational journaling and coaching support tool. It is designed to help you reflect on your rides, identify patterns, and explore ideas between sessions.
It is not a replacement for working with a qualified, in-person riding instructor.
A human instructor can:
- Watch you ride in real time and correct your position and aids as they happen
- Assess your horse's behavior and soundness firsthand
- Make safety judgments that no app can make remotely
- Intervene immediately if something goes wrong
We strongly encourage all riders — especially beginners and those working with young, green, or unpredictable horses — to work regularly with a certified, qualified riding instructor.
AI Coaching Limitations
The coaching responses generated by My Riding Coach are based solely on the information you choose to share in your journal entries and profile. The AI:
- Cannot see you or your horse
- Cannot assess your horse's health, soundness, or behavior in real time
- Cannot evaluate your position, balance, or aids directly
- May not always provide advice that is accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation
All suggestions, exercises, and tips provided by the AI coaching feature are general in nature and intended as a starting point for your own reflection and conversation with your instructor — not as definitive directives to follow without judgment.
Always use good judgment. If something feels unsafe, stop. Trust your instincts.
Horse Health and Veterinary Care
My Riding Coach is not a veterinary resource. Nothing in this app should be used to diagnose, treat, or make medical decisions about your horse. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for any concerns about your horse's health, soundness, lameness, or behavior changes.
Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability
By using My Riding Coach, you agree that:
- You are voluntarily participating in equestrian activities and assume all risks associated with those activities
- My Riding Coach, its owners, employees, and affiliates are not responsible or liable for any injury, illness, death, property damage, or loss — to you, your horse, or any third party — arising from your equestrian activities or your use of this app
- The information and AI coaching responses provided by this app do not constitute professional riding instruction, veterinary advice, or any other licensed professional service
This disclaimer applies whether or not you followed, partially followed, or disregarded any suggestion made by the app.
